Thoughts on the Total War: Warhammer series

I have been absolutely obsessed with Total War: Warhammer II lately. Nearly every second that I have (outside of doing homework and sleeping), has been playing the Mortal Empire mode in this game. I’ve spent more than a hundred hours playing different factions and leaders, suffered through awful starts where all of my neighbors attacked me early, and had some fantastic battles in which I was outnumbered six to one and still was able to fight the enemy off. The game is massive, fun, and has enough variety that it can be tough to really understand everything in your first run. I still haven’t given half of the possible leaders a chance, and of the half that I have tried, I still don’t understand all the mechanics for some.

The more that I play the game, the more excited I get for the next venture into the world which we will get to play next year. Total War: Warhammer III is set to release in just a little over two months on February 17, 2022. On release, we will have new factions that we haven’t been able to play as previously. As of right now, there will be four factions of chaos: Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle, and Slaanesh. For non-chaos factions, there will be Kislev and Cathay along with a DLC race known as the Ogre Kingdoms which will be free for all players that either preorder the game or purchase the game within a week of release otherwise will be available for purchase after that window.

The part of Total War: Warhammer III which I am most excited for though is the eventual Immortal Empires. This will be similar to Mortal Empires that exists in Total War: Warhammer II and will bring all the races together on a gigantic map. I can’t wait to initiate a grand invasion into the normal world as a god of chaos. Another interesting feature is that supposedly, cities will have the ability for multiple layers of walls rather than just a single one like we are used to, attacking and defending will have whole new challenges and strategies. I simply can’t wait to get a hold of this game!
